Floating Market & Bridge over the River Kwae
This excursion is arranged every Wednesday (if you are more than 6 adults, it is also possible to book another day). You will be picked up by transfer from your accommodation at 06:30 and will be back around 19.00. After a two-hour journey from Hua Hin, you will arrive at Damnoen Saduak, perhaps the most famous of all Thailand’s floating markets that gives you, in addition to many photo opportunities, an insight in how life in Thailand was once lived – on and around the canals.
After the market, the journey continues to the famous Bridge over the river Kwae in Kanchanaburi. The bridge was built by prisoners of war for the Japanese army during World War II as part of their plans for domination throughout Asia. The bridge was later bombed by Allied aircraft. The round parts are original while the middle, angular parts are new, paid for by Japan.
You can also visit the war cemeteries in the city, where about 9,000 prisoners of war, who died during the construction of the bridge and the rest of the so-called Death Railway, are buried.
You can then enjoy a delicious lunch (drinks not included). After lunch you will have a wonderful ride on an elephant ridge before the journey back to Hua Hin.
