General information
Security power supply
Your electrical cabinets (Safe-T-Cut / earth fault circuit breaker), where the knob (Sensitivity) should ALWAYS be in position 25 mA.
If the knob is set to “Direct”, you must immediately set it back to 25 mA.
If it is left intentionally in the “Direct” position, you have no protection in the house and a possible electrical accident then has very serious consequences!
If you have a problem with the earth fault circuit breaker switching off frequently (this can happen if you have many appliances connected at the same time), you must immediately contact LARF to check the earth fault circuit breaker and the power supply with the help of a qualified electrician.
Security
Remember to ALWAYS lock doors and windows, even at the back of the house. This is the best way to prevent burglary. The opportunity makes the thief! We recommend that you always close and lock the wooden doors at night even if you are at home.
There have been bag twitches, so be careful how you store your valuables. If you are out riding a moped or bicycle, never put any valuables in the basket in front.
A / C – Be Energismart
Remember to turn off the house’s A / C (air conditioning) when you are not at home. There are better things to spend the money on because the electricity bills can be very high otherwise. When the A / C is on, windows and doors should be closed.
Toilets
Do not flush toilet paper down the toilet as it can easily become clogged. The cost for this is 500 THB and is paid against a receipt to the staff. If our staff can not solve the problem, we have to call in a plumber, which costs from 650 THB up to 3,500 THB.
The reason for this problem is that in Thailand, 90-degree bends are used in the drain pipes where paper easily gets stuck. If you use even more paper, it can be an even bigger problem as the paper can clog the inlet to the septic tank. Then larger procedures are usually required, such as sludge suction, which becomes expensive.
Sink
Do not pour frying pan and coffee grounds into the sink! Wipe the frying pan with kitchen paper! In time, there will be a blockage in the pipe and unnecessary costs and craftsmen in the house.
Before you go home
Food and drink left in the house for a long time can cause problems. Therefore, we recommend that you empty both the refrigerator and the pantry before you go and display all the food you do not want to save on the sink, and our staff will take care of it at the check-out cleaning.
Carbonated beverages in cans can start to leak and destroy your kitchen cabinets. The same applies to beverages in glass bottles, even if the risk of them starting to leak / explode is less.
Dry goods such as cereals of all kinds, such as muesli and corn flakes as well as cereal products of various kinds such as pasta, rice, flour, etc. are sweets for both ants and even worse – flour beetles. Both ants and meal beetles build nests in the kitchen cabinets and can thus destroy much more than just the food.
Both leaking cans and vermin in leftover food can thus cause damaged kitchen cabinets, which can be very expensive.
Suggestion box
We are proud of our areas but LARF’s measure is that nothing is so good that it can not get even better. Therefore, we gratefully accept your thoughts and ideas on how we can make it even more attractive. Make your voice heard – put your proposal in the red box (at the staff accommodation). There you can also place your orders for Transfer, Cleaning, etc. The box is checked every day.
Snakes and other nasty insects
Thailand is a tropical country and in addition to a wonderful climate, this also means that there are a whole range of animals and small insects that we are not used to from Sweden. Some of these are dangerous and there are e.g. snakes that are deadly poisonous.
We try as far as possible to keep both dangerous and harmless animals and insects away from our areas by spraying once a month. However, it is impossible to succeed with this one hundred percent. To avoid unpleasantness, we recommend always taking the safe for the unsafe and simply assuming that all snakes are dangerous.
We humans are not a prey for snakes and they are usually at least as afraid of us as we are of them, but if they feel crowded and threatened, they can go on the attack. If you see a snake in the area, keep a safe distance and give the snake a chance to meander away. Feel free to report to our staff so they can take action.
Most snakes are found on the ground, often in bushes and flower beds, but there are also tree-climbing snakes. They are often green and difficult to see against the background of leaves. If you are going to take care of your trees and shrubs yourself, be sure to first check that there are no snakes nearby.
In addition to snakes, there are also insects that can be poisonous, but not deadly.
Some centipedes can cause severe swelling if you happen to step on them. The dangerous ones are recognizable on the red-colored feet. Those with brown / black feet are completely harmless and these curl up if you poke at them.
Scorpions exist, but you do not see them very often. A scorpion bite can really hurt, but those found in Thailand have a very weak poison that normally does not pose a danger to us humans.
Wasps, stingrays and other flying insects can also cause painful experiences.
Most are not more dangerous than their Swedish relatives, but the bites of some large wasps can cause serious reactions if you are allergic and a doctor’s visit is recommended for safety.
